ST MARY MAGADALENE AVONDALE PARISH RECTOR’S MESSAGE SHARE GOD’S LOVE

Welcome to St Mary Magdalene Avondale Parish, a Christ-centred community called to share God’s love in word and action. Our vision is to be a church where every person encounters the transforming grace of Jesus Christ, grows in faith, and is equipped to serve the world God loves. Rooted in Scripture, sustained by prayer, and nourished through the Sacraments, we seek to deepen discipleship and foster a vibrant spiritual life for all ages.

We believe God’s love is not merely proclaimed but embodied. Therefore, we are committed to radical hospitality, compassionate pastoral care, and practical outreach within Avondale and the wider city. In worship we gather as one family; in fellowship we nurture belonging; in service we extend Christ’s healing presence to the lonely, the struggling, and the overlooked. Each ministry of our parish children, youth, Mothers’ Union, men’s fellowship, and community engagement shares this common calling: to reflect the light and love of Christ in everyday life.

Whether you are exploring faith, returning to church, or seeking a spiritual home, you are warmly invited to journey with us. Together, led by the Holy Spirit, we desire to be a beacon of hope, reconciliation, and joy sharing God’s love generously so that lives are renewed and our community is transformed. All are welcome, and there is a place for you here.

Our Parish Choirs

Through dedication and consistent practice, the choir strengthens faith and unity within the parish community every Sunday morning.

The 9am Shona Choir celebrates worship through vibrant local melodies and rich cultural expression. Their powerful harmonies bring energy and joy to the service, encouraging active participation from the congregation. Rooted in tradition and faith, this choir preserves heritage while nurturing spiritual growth within the parish family.

The 11:00am Worship Choir brings the congregation together through projected lyrics and uplifting praise songs that everyone can follow and sing. How it started!

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to develop this website for our church. What began as a school assignment has become a meaningful project that I am proud to share. Completing it has been both rewarding and fulfilling.

The assignment required me to identify a real-world problem and create a practical solution. I recognized the need for a central, informative platform where people could easily learn about our church, its history, mission, and activities.

I sincerely hope this project will strengthen communication within our church and make it easier for others to connect with us.
